About Marberry Cleaners

In 1911, George Neumark, an ambitious engineer, founded Illinois Cleaners as a comprehensive service offering cleaning, laundering, and furrier services. For decades, the company thrived as a robust cleaning operation catering to the suburbs of Chicago.

However, in the 1960s, the dry cleaning industry faced a significant downturn during the "polyester years," witnessing a sharp decline in the number of dry cleaners from 40,000 to 18,000 within just four years. Recognizing an opportunity amidst the challenges, the Marberry family, led by William Marberry and his four sons, entered the cleaning business. They strategically acquired several prominent cleaners in Chicago's western suburbs.

Over the subsequent 30 years, Marberry–Illinois Cleaners has not only weathered the industry's turbulent times but also experienced substantial growth in retail cleaning and home delivery. This strategic approach propelled us to become the largest cleaner in Illinois, solidifying our position as a key player in the regional cleaning industry.

Marberry Cleaners, now owned and operated by John Marberry Jr., John Marberry Sr., David Marberry, and Peter Marberry, stands as a testament to three generations of family dedication. With a collective experience of 100 years in the laundry industry, we have evolved into a premier cleaning company, specializing in dry cleaning home delivery and serving commercial laundry accounts.

At Marberry, our commitment is unwavering: to deliver a consistent and reliable cleaning service every day. We understand the importance of dependability in our industry, and we take pride in meeting this expectation. To ensure the highest quality, we've forged partnerships with the leading suppliers in the cleaning industry. This strategic collaboration empowers us to not only meet but exceed the expectations of our valued customers.

At Marberry Cleaners, our commitment extends beyond our services to actively supporting fellow local small businesses and staying engaged within our industry. A testament to our dedication to sustainability, we've been proudly "Perc-Free" from the start, pioneering as the original "Green Cleaner."

Our management team is at the forefront of industry leadership, with David Marberry serving as the Vice President of the Illinois Professional Dry Cleaner and Launderers Association. Kevin Oster, another key member, holds the esteemed title of Certified Professional Drycleaner.

Combining our extensive industry knowledge with cutting-edge technology and equipment, Marberry Cleaners continually raises the bar to deliver the finest cleaning services we've ever produced. In our pursuit of excellence, we actively participate in industry meetings and training sessions, including visits to the Dry Cleaning and Laundry Institute in Laurel, MD. This commitment ensures that we stay at the forefront of industry innovations to provide our customers with unparalleled quality.
